Physical therapists and assistants provide education and treatment to patients who have a temporary or permanent disability. They are experts in examining and treating problems that affect an individual’s ability to move and function. Physical therapy improves mobility and motion, reduces pain without medication, and in many cases can help avoid surgery. Treatment methods may include exercise, manual therapy, bracing, injury prevention and management principles. These services are provided in inpatient, outpatient, home-based, community, school and business settings.
